Masquerade (1975) breathes the atmosphere of a mystical spectacle , where the face of an unknown figure floats between reality and illusion . It seems like a vision, a moment frozen in time, in which the boundaries between the self and the other blur.
The graceful, flowing lines around the face are reminiscent of the undulating movement of a theatrical collar , which enhances the mysterious character of the figure. It seems as if this apparition has just stepped out of a Venetian ball — a mask of refinement, but also of hidden truths.
Who's behind the mask?
Is it a character , an archetype , or merely a reflection of our own hidden layers ? The question remains unanswered, inviting self-examination . The mask is a gateway to the unconscious parts of ourselves — to those layers that we sometimes hide from others (and from ourselves).
Masquerade is a visual game between unmasking and concealing , between what we show and what we hide in the shadow of our identity
